To catalyse change and foster a more sustainable Africa, Power Shift Africa recently unveiled an ambitious campaign Adapt2Live. This Pan-African campaign aims to garner international support for adaptation and resilience initiatives across the continent while advocating for increased global funding for Adaptation work. Adaptation has often been overshadowed in the multilateral climate agenda, leaving Africa exposed to the harsh realities of climate emergencies. Many interventions have been reactive and fragmented, falling short of what is truly needed to safeguard Africa's future. The campaign seeks to shine a spotlight on Adaptation interventions that can drive Africa's development agenda in a sustainable and resilient manner. Recognising the urgency of prioritising adaptation and resilience within Africa's climate response, the campaign aims to elevate these crucial issues in the global climate agenda discourse. Additionally, it champions the narrative of a just transition. The campaign is designed to span 3-5 years. In collaboration with partners, PSA has been intentional in empowering journalists to enhance their understanding and reporting on adaptation issues. Simultaneously, the campaign is focused on raising public awareness and mobilising action around adaptation concerns. Speaking during the launch of the campaign, Amy G Thorp, the Senior Adaptation and Resilience Advisor at Power Shift Africa explained, “The climate emergency presents an immediate, intergenerational risk to Africa’s communities and biodiversity. Africa’s adaptation requisites and financial burdens have been neglected, resulting in detrimental consequences for our continent.” Join us on this journey towards a more resilient and adaptive Africa.
