African Priorities for COP30 Policy Brief

This Policy Brief seeks to provide an African perspective on the forthcoming 30th session of

the Conference of the Parties (COP30) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change

(UNFCCC), slated for November 2025 in Belém, Brazil. It highlights the key priority issues that

will be on the formal negotiating agenda while also analysing the COP Presidency’s voluntary

“Action Agenda,” which seeks to generate political momentum around implementation.

In doing so, this Policy Brief aims to support African negotiators, policymakers, and civil

society in advancing a coherent and justice-centered strategy for COP30.
