‘Back Off’: African climate groups decry Europe’s dash for gas at COP27

Waving giant euro banknotes splattered with the words “blood money”, African protesters at U.N. climate talks in Egypt demanded European governments halt a “dash” for the continent’s natural gas.

...“This is basically another scramble for Africa,” Koaile Monaheng of Power Shift Africa, a Nairobi-based energy and climate think tank, told DeSmog.

“European companies should not be here in Africa,” said Dean Bhekumuzi Bhebhe, a South Africa-based campaigner for the Don’t Gas Africa.
